Unfortunately, both points 1 and 2 are incorrect - the NIC is a part of br0 and it did get the IP from the router’s perspective. Don’t know why and how, but that’s the effect.
How do you know that? ip a didn’t show that.
The router’s perspective is negligible, as long as NICs/bridges have no DHCP activated.
I know that because I checked. The router’s perspective might or might not be important, but the fact remains when this happens, there’s no communication through the NIC.
