Setting your "Flair"

My guess is for users that had > 1k posts they created groups that come with the according flair and title.
For other known users (or everyone who signed up?) they granted trust level 2.

Ron Livingston should be known as well (look him up, maybe you recognize his face rather than his name). The movie also spawned some, at least in my bubble, well known memes. I’d say most notably the “that would be great meme” and “I was told there would be”. [1]
At least he quoted the source, so everyone was able to look it up

  1. I refrained from posting the images to not derail this thread too much. ↩︎

We made the groups to recognize folks who had >1K posts in the old forums. If we missed tagging anybody, please speak up and we will do so.

For Trust-Levels, early this week we did bump up all the initial joiners as well. New users will start at 0 and jump to 1 through the usual mechanisms. Again for long time folks on the old forums we are happy to bump folks as needed, just send a DM over to me or @will and we’ll handle those as we go.

@kris What about the Knowledge Exam Badge?

We’re going to bring that over too  Although, not as a flair but as a badge.

I’ll make sure you’re on the list

That’s a good thing!

Any chance of discourse-user-card-badges so we can display such badges?

My status from the old system did not make the journey, so I look like a new user.

You can DM @kris or one of the admins to have that carried over (well sort of)

Oh, I’d love to see my exam badge here as well
Could you set me on that list too?

I guess I’m too old-school. Most of the time I don’t even look at names, avatars, signatures, or emojis. If the person says something genius I call them out if they say something moronic I also call them out on it. The fact that I don’t look at names and whatnot makes me an equal-opportunity-a55hole but I guess that could also confuse people too -e.g. *“That moron just said I was stupid and should run myself into the nearest brick wall, and now he’s saying I’m really smart! What’s his deal?”*

I don’t care what “flair” you have; just give me the details of how to solve my problem.
*“Oh that person has a red-checkmark-over-a-thimble next to their name. I should admire that even though they told me to sudo rm -r /.”*

Sounds like something I read a while back, where the head of state (or something) said to hire people based on their skill and not their certification and phd-like stuff.

Oh wouldn’t that be a hoot if I were the ‘head of state’ and I could make someone’s life just a bit harder for every bit of bad advice? …I like that idea; let’s put that into place (or is it already?).
