Signatures Now Enabled

You can still log into old forums and get any code for a copy-n-paste over.

Can the 1000 character limit be bumped?

Very hard to get more than a couple of forum links in otherwise

It seems that the peer-pressure to use details tags seems fairly effective

I’m in favor. :point_up_2:

But I think it’s not possible. It’s a discourse limit, not an admin limit.

Correct, its hard-coded at 1000 chars, not something we can adjust. I’d tend to think 1000 is generous though… That’s a lot of extra data per page load, more than most replies themselves… I’d recommend linking to a Gist if you need a full page worth of signature explanation :slight_smile:

I see how to add using details, but how do you enter the dropdown (ie.

System configuration, and when you click you get the >Main system and >UGREEN.

I forgot how to add a spoiler to my sig. Anyone?

Now people can get a link to some BSD apps!

Dan posted this earlier:
Use “Details”:

[details="My system specs"]
The Heart of Gold with an Infinite Improbability Drive, piloted by Marvin the Paranoid Android
[/details]

Renders as:

My system specs

The Heart of Gold with an Infinite Improbability Drive, piloted by Marvin the Paranoid Android

So do you know how to embed a system configuration so that initially there is one one listed (ie. "System Configuration) and when you click on that you can see multiple systems with their full details.

Nested details:

[details="System specs"]
[details="Main system"]
* foo
* bar
* baz
[/details]
[details="Backup system"]
* alpha
* bravo
* charlie
[/details]
[/details]
System specs
Main system
  • foo
  • bar
  • baz
Backup system
  • alpha
  • bravo
  • charlie

Thanks, it works greats.

Kris,

I finally found this thread after searching for about an hour. I was trying to copy my signature over from the old forums and didn’t want to have a server configuration that took up a whole screen.

Can I suggest some kind of “sticky” posting right under the “Welcome” message that has a guide for those of us migrating over from the old forums. Thanks!

Andy O

Are you sure you want to broadcast your email address on a public forum, which even web crawlers can read?

Good point, though it has been on the old forums for years.

Hi gang!

New to the new forums site and just testing my signature. I like the new look and feel!
