Single Drive Slog

I’ve been searching everywhere, but I can’t seem to find a concrete answer.

I just spun up a new TrueNAS system that I’m using in my homelab as shared storage for a Proxmox cluster. ( 8 drives in a 4x mirror )

I wanted to add a SLOG however the only options avail during creation are “Stripe” or “Mirror” under Layout. I can’t seem to create a SLOG with a single drive. (i understand the risks).

I’ve watched a few videos on other people selecting a single drive for a SLOG, for example one from Lawrence Systems: https://youtu.be/M4DLChRXJog?t=800
However i noticed he’s using CORE in this video.

So my question is, does Scale not support “Single Drive” SLOGs?

Hmmm.

Which version of Scale are you using? 24.04 and 24.10 seem to look different to me. Possibly because I don’t have multiple candidate drives available.

Anyway, I would expect “stripe” would be correct for a single drive…

It doesn’t really make a difference unless you have multiple drives anyway.

I “was” running 24.04, installed it Tues, and wouldn’t ya know it I sit down today and 24.10 was released lol.

Anyways…

Wow i cannot believe I didn’t try that, or maybe i missed it, but you are 100% correct. Selecting Stripe allowed me to pick the single drive and it’s added now. Thank you!
