Smartd 2642 - - Device: /dev/da10 [SAT], 1 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors

Good evening,

I’ve been using FreeNAS/TrueNAS successfully for several years on a Dell PowerEdge R720 with an unraid controller recommended by this community.

I recently swapped out all of the 14x 7.2k rpm data drives with brand new 14x SSD data drives. The basic steps I followed were:

  1. Moved all of my data off
  2. Destroyed the pool
  3. Power down
  4. Swapped the media
  5. Power on
  6. Create new pool on the SSDs
  7. Created new test Zvol
  8. Begin testing

Everything seems to be working fine from the surface. However, the console ocassionally scrolls messages about three of the 14 SSD drives. Do I really have 3 problematic drives that need to be replaced already or is something else going on? I have no idea how critical or benign these messages are. I can replace the three drives if necessary but I didn’t want to go through those motions and waste time if that was the wrong path.

Run a smart long test on all the drives and after they finish (usually 10 minuites or so for SSDs) post the SMART data.

You can start a SMART long test using smartctl -t long /dev/daXX where XX is the number of the drive; smartctl -a /dev/daXX to see the smart data of the drive XX.

They look fine to me, but plenty of unkown attributes and values that would need further knowledge to understand (ie raw errors or wear level).
