Or IMHO even better, go do the “separate application from data” approach.
Jellyfin with its thumbnails and DB and OS is on a SSD mirror and accessing the movies from a dataset with a big recordsize.

That is my setup. Jellyfin lives in proxmox, with all caches being local. The truenas media share is mounted on proxmox itself. Navigating in the UI is very fast (at least in LAN), and there is some minor delay when starting playback.
