Submitting issue/suggestion - rsync source vs local naming

I took the time to register and submit an issue and only after I filled everything I get the message that I don’t have rights to do so. I don’t know how Jira is still a thing…
Now I understand that if I’m not paying for subscription I can’t request fixes, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t provide some useful suggestions.

Here is my suggestion if someone from TrueNas is watching:

In rsync task local is titled “Source” and remote is “Remote”. Naming the local “source” puts a meaning that data is always copied from the local to remote. However if direction is pull then the local becomes destination, and source is not the correct label. It’s not a big deal, but maybe “Local” is more correct for the local side.

Technically the best situation is to choose source and destination and both can be either local or remote (as long as they are not both remote). But that requires a lot more effort and just changing a label is much easier as a start.

Welcome @Nikolay_Pelov. Jira is still used for collecting bug tickets, but Feature requests are now handled via this forum: Feature Requests - TrueNAS Community Forums. You were probably trying to create an issue of a type that public users don’t have permissions to on that instance.

Yeah, that part of Jira is… suboptimal.
Since Jira ought to know what privileges the logged in user has, it ought to be able to immediately communicate what options are invalid for the current user if one were to be selected.

Maybe they’ll get there in 2030, if we’re still around.
