i know it’s been a while. I am stuck on cobra 23, by OWC solution has the same problem you are having. Did you find a fix it this?
I gave up on it, moved back to Supermicro, there is no plan or roadmap to officially support thunderbolt extensions, so I am not very hopeful.
Not my final solution, but I wanted to start learning about TrueNAS and the only thing I had available was an older Intel MacBook Pro.
I’m running the latest 20.10.2 and have 2 LaCie TB2 drives plugged into it.
They both work just fine.
Is there a possibility that the MacBook Pro / drive combination reverted to USB if TB is no longer supported?
TB2 ports on the Mac and connections on the drives do not have USB on board to fall back to as far as I know.
The only other think I can think of is that because TB is integrated into the MLB on the Mac that it’s arbitrating at the hardware level and the OS is not involved at all.
Good to know. I scratch my head re: how that works without drivers esp. presenting the drives to TrueNAS, but if it works, it works!
