If you run TrueNAS Scale with a SES-compatible SAS enclosure, you can easily locate a disk from the CLI with the encled utility.
For example if you want to locate the disk sde just type
encled sde locate
It works very well on my Supermicro JBOD + LSI 9300-8i HBA.
I have sent a Merge Request to support also AIC JBOD that has been merged to amarao/sdled.
I have also just sent a second Merge Request to support UUID partition name, and hard disk serial numbers.
If you cannot wait for the merging, you can already pick the modified version .
Oh, that is awesome. I’m going to try this out. I was kind of jealous of the TrueNAS enclosure GUI I saw in the documentation that isn’t available for my home build.
