Topology Degraded, Pool is not healthy but Disk health is ok

Topology Degraded, Pool is not healthy but Disk Health is ok
One of my pools is showing the above. How can it be not healthy , then it is??

On another pool, Topology and ZFS health is ok, but Dik health shows 0 alerts and 19 failed smart tests.

Confused I will be

That’s a red flag.
Other than that, I can’t say much.

Without knowing any details what-so-ever about your pool it’s going to be close to impossible to help you.

Posting smart reports from your disks and the output of sudo zpool status -v would be a great start.

As requested:

root@freenas[~]# sudo zpool status -v
pool: Backup_Data
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing or
invalid. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue
functioning in a degraded state.
action: Replace the device using ‘zpool replace’.

On or for the Backup_Data pool, there are no SMART reports as such, only that it says:
sdc extended offline Success Lifetime 10461 No Errors

This is from running smartctl -x /dev/sdc
There are 7 errors in total from No 27 up to No 34, all are similar

smartctl -x /dev/sdd
There is more information , but none for any errors as I can see.

Please provide the full output from smartctl as formatted text:
Use the </> button or paste between two lines of three backquotes
```
Is it the full output for both pools you want, or just one of them.
Still haven’t posted the full output… but from what you did post sdd is critically failing, since it’s failing short and extended tests. Conveyance passing isn’t enough change that.
sdc is likely also in bad shape, if it’s has 34 errors in the log.
Tough to say more without seeing the full output.
Mind you, sdc and sdd may be renamed during reboot. Always verify that you are working on the drive you think you’re working on, for example when preparing to replace one.
Full output for sdc disk
The 34 errors aren’t great, but when put into the context of accruing those over 8.5 years, it dampens it somewhat. I suggest you run an extended smart test on it and see how it handles that. Only two tests appear to have been run total, and that was many, many years ago.
When did you get this drive? If it hadn’t been a 1TB device I would say you may still have the ability to claim your warranty. But given the size I suspect this isn’t a new drive, even if it’s only been on for 1.7 years.
Time to replace it either way.
I bought x2 1Tb WD Red disks , which are sdc, in 2015. I then bought x1 1Tb WD Purple disk in 2023. and is just under 2 years old. As it has a 3 year warranty, I should get it replaced or money back
I bought them from Amazon UK
Your SMART report says it’s 1 TB.
Either way, get it replaced on warranty.
It is a !TB Purple, my error.
I have a brand new 2TB purple surveillance disk which I now want to create a new pool with. So I selected Stripe, but a VDEV was automatically added, then a message saying:
A stripe data VDEV is highly discouraged and will result in data loss if it fails
So what layout do I select for 1 disk
A single stripe is always a risk, as long as you understand this, and that if the disk fails you lose all the data on it, you can click past that warning. ZFS will be unable to resolve any possible read errors and files impacted by those will be lost.
Your pool will consist of a single VDEV made up of single striped disk.
If you only have a one disk, that is your only option.
