Torrent client and a smb share

I just built a raidz pool using a recycled desktop. I have 5 500gb disks, totaling a 2tb pool. And share it as smb.

I like this size and works fine.

I want to add a directory to this share, name Downloads.

And I want to add a torrent client that will use this directory as the downloads directory, for downloading and uploading.

I’m using a proxmox server with only a TrueNAS Scale VM with hd passthrough.

Is it possible to do this? Is it viable? Anyone has anything working?

Thank you all in advance.

I don’t use proxmox, but i have a pool, with a dataset called downloads which is used by qbittorrent as a hostpath so it can download to it and it’s shared via smb so i have access to it. so yes it’s doable without problems.

Hi, Thanks for replying.
Did you install the app for qbittorrent or did you do anything differently?

Right now i’m running my apps stack inside a systemd nspawn container (scale-jail) managed by portainer with my own compose files. If the new incus lxc system matures a bit i will migrate everything over, so i’m no longer reliant on jailmaker.

There are some considerations regarding running torrents on ZFS:
