True Nas new build

Good Morning everybody.

I would like to build a true Nas system, but i would like your feedback about my HW.

Currently i’ve a Mini ITX with Celeron N3150 Cpu and 8gb memory ram.

Do you thinks would be enough? I would mainly use it for backup and and to share video and music.

Many thanks in advance.

Maurizio

It COULD BE.
It depends on some questions.

  • Backups from how many devices?
  • Share video and music to how many clients?
  • What SW you plan to use for sharing videos/music? (I mean, only smb share of something like Plex/Jellyfin?)
  • In case of Jellyfin/Plex, do you plan using transcoding?
IN general I would say that If its possible I would first consider upgrading the RAM to 16GB ( I seriously doubt that this MoBo supports more than that)

Hello.

Well, backup from two devices mainly, every three days i would say.

Regarding share videos and music, wll be max. three clients, and just smb sharing…no more.

Many thanks for your hints.

Maurizio

Then I would say, you can go for it!
