TrueNas and Plex

Hello,
I’m running TrueNas Scale ElectricEel-24.10.2 on AMD Ryzen 5 5500GT with Radeon Graphics with 6 cores, 12 threads, 32 GB ram.

Since a few days I notice when Sonic analysis on Plex Media server 1.41.3.9314 / Player Version#: 4.143.0 bringing down my Truenas server. The server simply shutdown it self.
I’ve notice from net data that CPU usage go up to 61 %

I tried to reinstall Plex on a different pool assigning Docker to a different pool as well, rebuilding from scratch my library did not help.
My next step would be to reinstall TrueNas and see if it is different.

Any clue ?

Thanks

Just a thought but sounds like something is a miss in the hardware causing the system to protect itself by shutting down, perhaps a thermal or power issue. Did you check the BIOS logs to see if anything is getting reported that would trigger such an event?

Thanks Spunky17 for your input.
I I went in the Bios settings and applied CPU Related Settings:

  • Global C-state Control: Enabled
  • PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive): Disabled or set to Auto
  • CPU Core Ratio: Auto
  • CPU Load-line Calibration: Level 3 or Auto
  • CPU Current Capability: 100%

Then I set all my chassis and CPU fan to max speed.

Change docker container configuration to:

cpu_count: 4
mem_limit: 8192

Now the system is stable. Sonic analysis is running since 16:20. No crash.
CPU temperature is hight

When the analysis is over, I will look at reapplying thermal past on my CPU.
