Truenas Community Instance Questions - UID/GID Mappings

I have a couple of questions regarding the UID/GID Mapping in Truenas Community Fangtooth (Main Release Version):

  1. Mapping a host user to instance root:

When I try and add a mapping from a host user to the instance root I get an error:


I understand from a security standpoint this may not be the most recommended setup, however I am wondering if this should be more of a warning or allow an override setting that would allow this for people who may want to venture on the more risky side so to speak (especially as it relates to passthrough dataset permissions) rather than a hard error…

  1. GID mappings of “Internal” Groups - I am also getting an validation error


While I completely understand the reasoning for this as different distros have different inherent group id’s and these mapping appear to be “global” mappings for all instance, I am wondering if maybe per instance override mappings might be a thing for say matching instance/host permissions for the render and video groups if you are trying to utilize a host video card or something…
