Hello. I installed/upgraded TrueNAS Fangtooth 24.05-RC.1 and whenever I want to shut down I need to answer why I want to shut down the system. Why was this introduced? Is this logged somewhere? Is it reported back to ix systems? Can I turn off this requirement somehow? I run this as part of a …

Double check the version numbers on both servers? I think all the Fangtooth, 25.04 series asks for a reason. Goldeye, 25.10 and Halfmoon, 26.04 (upcoming) don’t on the Community Edition. Did you make a script or something to bypass on one system?

24 years too late… Dave Bowman: Shutdown the server, HAL. HAL: I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

Actually we have two TrueNAS Servers at home, one is just started to mirror the main one. It would be great to add a config setting that this reason is not necessary, as for a backup NAS started one time a week to mirror its quite annoying.

I would also like a way to disable this. When I want to turn it off I don’t want to have to answer questions.

An option to not have to answer this every single time would be welcome.

Fair enough. We’ve got a request in to move this to the enterprise side of the product

I would be happy to provide a reason for shutdown only if its a manual click on the UI button that triggers the prompt for the reason. My home backup TrueNAS Scale server is scheduled to turn on once a week to pull the snapshots from my main TrueNAS Core server. The TrueNAS Scale server has a scri…

I’d also like to put my vote in for being able to turn off the reason for shutdown. It’s annoying as a home user and hobbyist who tends to do testing requiring frequent shutdowns and restarts.

I propose “asdasdasdasdas” as the default reason if you do not type or select anything.
