If you’ve spent any time hanging around these forums (or if it’s your homepage, and the first thing you see when you log in each morning - no judgement) you’ve probably seen our new advertising banner at the top of the forum listing:
It’s no-frills, straightforward, to-the-point - much as the storage we’ve delivered over the years.
But with how much our community loves to meme, as evidenced by the nearly 250 posts in this thread:
If there’s anything we seem to enjoy more than TrueNAS, it’s making jokes about it. (Including our own team members.)
Some of us are enthusiasts (zealots, even?) spreading the word of TrueNAS to those who are looking for the best storage software out there - but we’d like to give the more “fun-loving” members of our community a soapbox to broadcast from.
So hereby begins the first of hopefully many TrueNAS Meme-vertisement Contests.
While you don’t have to strictly focus on the subject of our current promotion (the Mini X+ with any HA system purchase) memes or ads that spread awareness of the TrueNAS Enterprise hardware line will win bonus points.
Three memes will be chosen (by the iXsystems team) on Monday October 28th to receive a $50 gift certificate for the TrueNAS Merch store - with other neat prizes like mugs, shirts, and other swag to be given away as well.
The winners may of course wind up in the official TrueNAS marketing banners.
So go forth, TrueNAS community, and don’t let your memes be dreams.
Interesting question; I prefer my advertisements to be “as small as possible–‘non-existent’ if you will” and defiantly not ‘animated’ but since you asked, I think the advertisement should be viewable in Lynx.
Since it’s the first contest, we didn’t want to be overly onerous with the formatting guidelines.
Animated GIFs (JIFs?) are allowed. Your submission can be a “banner” format - horizontal or vertical - or a more square-aspect “social media friendly” ad.
I can’t decide (but let’s be honest, this is for the chance to win “wearable advertisements” so I’m a bit torn as to the level of involvement I’d want to put into this):
TrueNAS: because an average-user configured industrial grade file storage option is nothing like removing that safety guard on a new power saw.
TrueNAS: we’ve brought an expert driven UI with industry grade file storage options to the average user because we think critical file storage should be exciting.
Let’s be real: You’re just trying to bribe the guy who has to convince procurement that TrueNAS Enterprise really is the only thing that meets the project’s requirements. 100% that’s going to end up under their desk, best case, at their home office most likely.
Now, excuse me while I schedule a meeting with procurement…
