TrueNAS Scale 24.10, USB thumb drive installation, blank screen after selecting install option

Hi,

I created a USB Thumb Drive with TrueNAS Scale 24.10 ISO’s, tried RUFUS and BalenaEtcher. In both cases, I get to the point where I have to select to install (blue screen), I select the first option and then it moves on to a blank / black screen with no output. I have seen that many are having this issue.

Is there a fix for this?

One other person reported that the monitor was the issue, it was too high res.
Could that be your issue?

I used PI-KVM and from there I can change to 1080p 720p, etc, nothing worked, the screen is blank no matter what I try. Also, my main monitor is 1080p but just to be sure that is why I tried PI-KVM where I can change the resolution to whatever I want.

Also, just to be sure, my HBA card is connected in the 16x channel and I went in the BIOS to make sure that I am using the X570D4U-2L2T internal GPU.

It is my first time installing SCALE from scratch as before I installed CORE and upgrade to SCALE from that. At the time, installing CORE didn’t cause any issues. I also recently installed Truenas Scale 24.04 in a VM (backup NAS) and also no issues… But baremetal really is a big issue, blank screen no matter what.

I’m kind of surprised this is still an issue after a year, that they didn’t look into this and fixed this.

Found the solution. Seems like the custom setup the motherboard came with for Security boot was causing the issue. I set that to standard and it worked.
