Truenas scale

I have a question. just started up my server for the first time in a week and now i cant log in to it through the network drive and firefox says its unable to connect to it?

What’s on the screen?

The server boots up normal and gives me the normal screens. The 1-9 options dont know if i need to reinstall truenas but i cant access my storage drives on the server through my windows pc remotely at all. When i get off work ill post some screenshots

Just out of curiosity if i needed to reinstall truenas will my storge on the server still be excessed on the new os?

Does it show a WebUI IP address?

What do u mean?

Yes mine looks exactly like that

So to confirm the IP address shown does not connect when you put it in the browser? Just checking you are not using a hostname to try and connect

So when i log onto my server on my network drive it comes up with the enter network credentials with the right password an it tells me the network password is not correct and trying to log into the server through firefox it says unable to connect firefox cant establish a connection to this server

The address shown there is 192.168.1.36; the Firefox screen shot shows you’re trying to connect to 192.168.1.35. That isn’t going to work.

Is the ip supposed to change?

I just noticed that ill try the new ip and let you know

It can change if your system is set to get an IP using DHCP.
Since it’s a server, that’s not an ideal situation.

You adress that by either setting the TrueNAS server to use a static, of your choice, IP.
Or you set your router up to reserve a specific IP that it hands out when your TrueNAS server asks for one. How you do that depends on your router.

Is there a free way to setup a static ip through my router?

Setting up a DHCP reservation is a common feature of all routers, no extra charge.

There may be some ISPs that limit access to the router’s features, but locking DHCP reservations behind a paywall is something I have never witnessed myself, ymmv.

So where would i go in the router to do that

That would depend on what router you have. It’s not the same way on every router.

What router do you have?

Have you logged into your router to have a look around?
