On the fourth episode of TrueNAS Tech Talk (T3), Kris and Chris talk about the upcoming TrueNAS branding of “Community” and “Enterprise” Editions, why new hardware is not always the best hardware, the release cadence and codenames for the next three versions of TrueNAS, and talk about upgrading older TrueNAS Mini units to the latest software release.
The new information being that the ‘G’ and ‘H’ releases will be (with convenient links for non-North American readers who have never heard of these):
Goldeye (Hiodon alosoides) [may end up being known as the ‘007’ version…]; and
Halfmoon (Medialuna californiensis) Edit on further research, this might rather intend to refer to the (halfmoon) betta (Betta splendens). Fishy naming scheme, and jokes can only get worse from there.
Bets are now on for the ‘I’ release. There should be no shortage of names deriving from ἰχθύς…
