TrueNas Unaccesible - needs hard restart

I have been running my TrueNAS on a dated gaming rig that I repurposed. Everything SEEMS to be performing OK but have this nagging issue: After about 1 week of uptime - the server is unreachable via UI / Browser, SSH and SMB.

I normally would guess an outdated patch and have since updated the latest version available: TrueNAS-13.0-U6.8

It seems that the crashing is intermittent and not resolved by the update as I just had the server go belly up while writing this post.

I can provide some reports and metrics but the specs on the rig should be fine for what 2 users running network storage.

Specs are:

Full list of hardware pls.
Old gaming rig screams ryzen 1st gen or 2nd gen to me and that could mean you’re hit with the hard lockup due to enabled bios power saving options.

Actually thats exactly the CPU
[AMD Ryzen 7 1st Gen - RYZEN 7 1800X Summit Ridge (Zen) 8-Core 3.6 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo)

running on an:
ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac AM4 AMD Promontory X370 ATX AMD Motherboard

What command would output full specs?
Running lspci provided the output I pasted in the code field.

Go to your bios.
On older bios versions disable amd cool&Quit, erp-ready and global c-states.
On newer bios change psu from low idle current to typical idle current.

That should fix it.

That version will no longer get updated. It’s basically in an LTS / EOL state.
I’d suggest switching to Truenas CE version. Either 24.10 or 25.04.

I found cool n quiet under advanced / CPU Config - it was enabled and now disabled.

on that same page:
AMD fTMP switch, SVM and C6 Mode are all disabled)

I cannot seem to locate ERP-Ready or Global C State (Unless C6 was that)

on my msi board its called global c-states, on asrock it may be the c6 thing, i don’t know

Edit: Erp-ready on asrock should be under oc-tweaker and then voltage configuration.

ERP is not there - So I assume this is a feature my board did not get?

Doesn’t look like it, at least it wasn’t listed on

Ive made the suggested configuration changes!
Thanks! Ill keep an eye on it and look into migrating to the CE version.

Updated to 25.04.1 incrementally to not lose anything and looks great so far.
Thanks again LarsR!
