TrueNAS using wrong display output

Hi,

I just had a serious problem, where my TrueNAS SCALE 24.10.0 just randomly crashed and wouldn’t come up again.
I wrote about it here.

While diagnosing this issue I noticed, that I do not have any display output on my AST2500 VGA (through my mainboard’s BMC) after TrueNAS boots.
I can see the POST and GRUB via KVM but after the “Booting TrueNAS SCALE 24.10.0.2” message I only have a black screen.

When I connect a monitor to my dGPU (Interl Arc A310) via HDMI I can see the whole boot up as well as the console.

As I have used the console via KVM while I was still on 24.04.2.2 I am pretty sure, that this issue first started with 24.10.0. I now updated to 24.10.0.2 and the issue still persists.

This isn’t a huge deal as long as everything runs smoothly but it is a huge pain in the ass when there is something to diagnose.
It might also have something to do with the fact, that I had the A310 isolated on 24.04 for use with a VM which then ran my docker stack.

I use the A310 only for transcoding with docker containers.
Is there any way to force TN to use the onboard VGA?

Just FYI: the iGPU of my Ryzen 4650G is currently disabled.

I’d like to give this a bump.

No ideas?
Anything from the iX team?

I remember having something similar with my IPMI not giving any video after boot (would work fine in BIOS though) & it was fixed by going to bios & re-enabling igpu (my cpu doesn’t have an igpu, which made this twice as funny).

that’s really interesting. I’ll give it a try when the next reboot is necessary.
