Unable to access dashboard, need to copy all data

I am the new IT Director for my college. The previous director setup a TrueNAS for some data backup. I am unable to get into the dashboard at all. What is the best means to copy all of this data and create a new login/dashboard? Contacting the old director is not an option. Thanks in advance.

If you have access to the console / IPMI you can reset the password for the root / admin account and then connect to the web UI through the IP address displayed on the monitor. The exact menu options differs depending on version of TrueNAS.

Thank you for your response. I do not have access to the console as we are having firewall issues. I want to be able to copy all data off hard drives and re-install TrueNAS and set it up myself.

You’ll want to get access and a copy of the configuration file just in case the storage is encrypted.
