So, I’ve got an Storage/vdev issue. I can’t delete it from TrueNAS. QUESTION: Is there way to force the deletion of a storage and vdev, even if the storage isn’t connected? The Storage in question is a Mediasonic ProRaid H82-SU3S2 8 Bay enclosure with RAID, and 8xWD Green 3TB drives. I didn’t know it initially, but the model of enclosure I have does not have an option to go PBOD (Plain Bunch O’ Disks). So TrueNAS saw it as a single physical volume because the HW RAID controller on the box was doing the work. I wiped the array, and reinitialized it as I was trouble shooting. The HW Array is recognized by TrueNAS as a different storage device. There’s no way for me to plug in the original device to allow the OS to delete it.
Try
zpool clear nameofyourpool
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. I found a solution. It was step one in troubleshooting: reboot the system. It did get hung on reboot, so I had to power cycle. Once I did that, I was able to delete the old vdevs/pools.
