Hi all. Can’t install Ubuntu as virtual machine. Tried Mint, same problem. Windows installed alright (supreme irony…)
Parameters for the VM below, hardware too. Installing to a separate NVME.
It goes fine into the installation, but then freezes after about 2 minutes when copying files, screen below…tried changing a lot of parameters to no avail…any ideas?
Ubuntu 24 LTS
UEFI
1 virtual CPU
2 cores
4 threads
Host Model
6gb RAM
2 gb minimum memory
GPU ensure display device
If try to chose the graphics from my CPU, gives me an error message saying I have to live at least on GPU for the host… I don’t have a dedicated GPU.
Disk in AHCI mode, also tried VitIO.
Motherboard ASUS Z790 Creator
10gbe&2.5gbe on board
Thundebolt ports
32 DDR5 memory
Intel i5 12400 processor with integrated video.
RAIDZ1 with 3 disks
One 2TB NVME as single pool
One 512 NVME for apps and VMs
Well, spoke too soon…now Ubuntu UI loads but the UI is irresponsive…but I made progress anyways…rsrsrs…actually now it´s working, but the UI repose is very slow…so it has something to do with the GPU…the same happens in the Windows VM…Have to understand this better…
Ok, so research show that the problem is with Spice, that sucks. Apparently they removed VNC that worked well and replaced with this damaged Spice that everybody complains about…wired.
