This week I’ve tried to upgrade from Scale 25.04.1 to 25.04.2.1 from the webui, when done all the containers and VM disappears
Investigating, after some rollbacks, I found the problem is the VM migration. It was safe for me to delete the VMs, after the last rollback. The upgrade without the VMs was fine and all the Linux containers are back and working good.
WARNING: Delete the VMs also delete its root disk. You must backup the disk and then delete the VMs. After upgrading Scale you have to recrete the VM and restore the disk content
WARNING 2: Some VMs require a license based on hardware information to work fine, verify with your vendor if you may reapply the license for the new hardware before VM’s deletion
I know this is not the best way to solve the problem but it fits my needs.
FOR TRUENAS DEVELOPERS: below the error reported by Scale addressing me to described solution path.
[EFAULT] Failed reinitializing root disk quota “107374182400” for instance “VMInstanceName” in project “default”: Block volumes cannot be shrunk: Cannot be shrunk
