Update or upgrade from CORE to SCALE Dragonfish

Hi, I’m new about TrueNAS. Currently, I just bumpingly installed TrueNAS Core on an old desktop that I will use for my home network. And then, I read that the TrueNAS Scale seems more professional with more features. I intend to switch from Core to Scale before I fully set up and configure the current Core instance. So, my understanding is that there is no such a pure update/upgrade approach or process but an ISO burnt disk (ie. USB stick) for fresh installation. And, the Core will be completely replaced with the new Scale instance. Is my understanding is correct?

Correct, SCALE will replace the boot image when you do the upgrade/install. If you haven’t gone too deep yet, you’d probably be best off just installing fresh and importing the data pool if you had already created one.
