So I updated my box to the recently released 26 Beta and a .ix-virt dataset appeared in my app pool. Is that necessary? Was it hidden before? Do I need to keep it?
Thanks!

.ix-virt was the dataset used for the incus lxc container backend and yes it was hidden in the past. I don’t know if it’s still used for the new libvirt based lxc backend or if the content of .ix-virt gets copied to a new dataset for the libvirt backend.
Ah OK. I’ve never used LXC/Incus on this box though so safe to remove? I just don’t like seeing it in the UI ..
If you didn’t use any lxc (or incus based vms when vms used incus at the beginning of 25.04) then it should be save to delete…
To be clear, this is the Containers feature in the UI (or as @LarsR said Instances in early 25.04 versions). I don’t think you would have an .ix-virt dataset unless you had at least set up a pool for Containers storage.
