Impact
There should be no usability impact. It is usually a good idea to have a fairly current version of a application installed to address any defects as well as security/performance/functionality improvements.
I am not saying you are wrong to ask for it but can you point to any tangible reason that makes this especially important to you?
Some specific improvement or bug in the current version?
I’ll add that netdata 2.0.0 was recently released.
I’m just one of those strange people that prefers to run fairly current versions of software for security and functionality reasons. It was something that I noticed. I just ended up adding the iX version this morning, and see some visual differences.
How about just a setting that allows you to pick wether the system uses the included netdata or point it to your application install so it can be as up to date as you want it to be
