Updating to ElectricEel

Hi!

I want to say from the start that I’m completely new to TrueNAS. I have a freshly installed server that I made a pool and that’s it.
Question 1:Should I update now to the ElectricEel?
My thought process is that, in theory, now it’s a great time to start with it because I don’t have any apps or data to migrate.

If I update to ElectricEel…
Question 2: The current available apps on Dragonfish will be present there too?
I’ve read something about Docker stuff too available on ElectricEel (don’t know much about it but basically achieving the same result as that of apps but with better control?).

So my final question is, are both methods available? Basically I want to start easy (with apps) and then dive into more advanced stuff with Docker.

I appreciate any responses and docs if you can post them here.
Thanks!

Yes

If you’re using the official truenas apps, then in theory should auto upgrade and be fine. Make a backup though before you do the upgrade.

If you have any apps from like TrueCharts catalogue installed still, they won’t work.

Yes, I was talking about the official TrueNAS apps (don’t have any at the moment).

I don’t have apps from TrueCharts, so nothing to worry about when updating.
Thanks for the reply!
