It looks like the new term for TrueNAS (on BSD) is CORE. However, my old box searches for updates and never lists a 13.3 update. Do I need to reconfigure the update server lists? Should I see 13.3 - CORE in the list?

No, you shouldn’t; for whatever reason it’s designed not to. The release notes describe how you’d apply the update:

Strangely I searched upgrade/update in the documentation and I only got hits for CORE to SCALE.
