Hello all, I’m on day 14 of trying to troubleshoot by myself by going through the community posts and online blogs, but am finally breaking down to ask for help.
I just migrated from TrueNAS CORE to SCALE (Electric Eel, 24.10.2) on my TrueNAS-Mini-3.0X+ system, and was following the best practices guide. During the setup phase, I created an admin account since the root password was disabled (it’s not on CORE). I had no problems logging onto that account… at first.
Using that admin account, I created a sole user account for myself (‘jmetz’) and gave myself full admin access as a backup in case anything went wrong. It was a good thing I did. At the moment, it’s the only account that I can log in using Web UI or SSH. It has sudo access, but when I try to reset the admin password, I get a “passwd: Authentication token manipulation error” trying to type in the accounts own password.
I’ve looked through the settings for both accounts in the UI, and they’re identical, but I cannot log into the admin account at all (leads me to think that somehow the password got munged).
Does anyone have any thoughts about what my next steps should be?
Thanks in advance…
