Veeam Windows Agent + TrueNAS

I am searching for the most efficient method to backup my Windows environment. The combination of Veeam Windows Agent and TrueNAS Scale caught my attention. Is this a common setup?

I would greatly appreciate input from users who utilize TrueNAS as a backup for their Windows environments. Thank you.

I would try it out if you are interested in it. Easy enough to use. Backup everything, certain folders, etc.

You really aren’t risking anything by trying a ‘free’ product, except your time.

Try the restore features. See if that is what you want.

I just pointed mine to a SMB share and it was easy to use.

Thank you for your responses.

I have never used TrueNAS or Veeam, so I have some YouTube rabbit holes to go down. Unfortunately, I have a pending 24H2 update that I am terrified to initiate because of how modified my Windows environment is.

I have used Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows with my TrueNAS Core to backup my Windows 10 PCs for some time. It works great with quick backups and fast restores of individual files and complete disks to bare metal. I’ve recovered from bad Windows updates and used it to move from HDD to SSD along with SSD to larger SSD. I highly recommend.

I can’t speak to how common it is, but it’s working well for me.

Thank you!

Could you recommend any tutorials on how to properly set this up?

Veeam documentation would be a good start. You should have got links or seen it on their website when you downloaded the client. User guide
