VM setup issues - New User

I’m new here and to truenas, having some issue setting up my first vm.

Just setup a fresh install of truenas scale, and I setup a storage pool on 2 ssds, then created a data set on it for vms.
Then when i got to make the vm (setting up an ubuntu vm), it ends with this error:
[EINVAL] attributes.path: The path must reside within a pool mount point

Where do I start and what could be the issue on a fresh install?

How have you configured your VM? A screen shot of the settings would help.

If you’re having trouble posting screen shots, spend some time browsing around, and/or send a message to @discobot to start the new user tutorial–either of those will increase your trust level and help with things like posting images and links.

Here’s screenshots of what I’m choosing as I setup the vm.

It’s one of two things: either the path to your Ubuntu ISO (it’s in a pool, so it can’t–or at least shouldn’t–be in just /mnt), or the path to your VM’s datastore.

Hmm, I’m uploading the boot media over the web interface, not sure if I’m doing something wrong there, as for the datastore, these are my datasets, what should I be doing here to make sure I am doing it right?

Ended up finding the solution: Uploading install files for ubuntu wasnt working, instead had to upload to a smb share, then give the vm user permission to read, then use from that mount and it finally worked.
