13.0-U6.2
Mini X+ 10g Nic to netgear 10g switch.
Used for File Server / Backup Server of SMB to OSX clients.
No apps. Tried to get Synching and Rsync to work at some point but turned them off.
Every often, we can’t log in to the Web gui.
We don’t keep this system on 24/7. Which doesn’t help the memory for troubleshooting. I “recall” doing an update to 13U6.2 recently.
A few times the issues we have had, has been botched updates. Battery logs filling up boot drive, or just slow SMB performance. (still not happy with performance - but not relevance).
However, we can no longer access the Web GUI again.
Not out of disk space.
service middlewared restart
service nginx restart
Ping is fine. DNS resolve with tests.
Can mount SMB drives but takes 10 min to list files. Copying fails.
Web socket seems to get blocked or disconnect
I can get to Console.
Tried http:80
Sometimes I get to the Web GUI login. but then it doesn’t respond and eventually times out. Kicking me out.
Some thoughts:
Cert expired? can’t create new self-assigned cert via cmd line. and only reference or help docs are how to do this via the gui. Console says Cert expired in 2020 AFTER we purchased the server in 2022. But query default server expires on oct 20/2024.
I know I’m not alone with this issue. It seems common. Does TrueNas have a list of troubleshooting guides for this?
Hi, thanks for the reply.
yes. it is iXsystems hardware. It’s a mini+ so no support contract.
I believe an update caused this problem. Or it shipped with an outdated Cert. Which seems to be a common issue. But I don’t see any support documents about how to fix the web gui issue that has plagued so many, or a way to get support.
My system has been down for over a month. Trunas support tells me to use the community forums or buy a support contract. Isn’t there a help system for open source non enterprise? Is there not a document that describes how to fix this issue anywhere? It’s a common issue. This happened after an update on a vanilla turnkey system sold by IX.
…and here we are. This is your support. Unless you pay for the undivided attention of one of their tech. support specialists ( I guess, I freeload the software on my hardware and don’t contribute financially in any way. But I’ll ask my accountant if I could deduct the time I spend in the forum as pro-bono )
I did that back on the FreeNAS days ( but I did it and forgot it ). Am sure that there is a solution if you search the forums.
I purchased a turnkey system from ixsystems. it was pre-installed.
it was either pre-installed with an old cert or the recent upgrade from ixsystems bricked my system. It worked before I updated it.
so. don’t you think ixsystems should support it if its own update bricked at turnkey vanilla system?
Furthermore, I’m am desperate for help because I do not see any documentation on how to fix this common issue. I keep getting links to using the GUI, when the gui is what is broken.
Free or not, open source or not, the success of an open source “free” platform depends on a good self help support system. I’m not asking for top tier phone support. I haven’t been able to resolve this through the community or their support documentation.
And again. It was their update that “bricked” my system.
Do you have console access? Can you watch the console for errors while it boots or try to boot to a previous TrueNAS version? You really aren’t giving much info.
On the console, open the shell.
Type zpool list and post the results.
Also type top and take a screen capture of the entire header which show how your system memory is being utilized. q to exit.
