Which Mainboard to choose for budget low energy 6 HDD NAS ECC

Hello,
currently I plan to build my first own custom NAS. So i look for some Mainboard recommondations.
Goal is to have a energy efficent NAS with 6 Bays/HDD and ECC.
In the forum the supermicro board overall and with that the x10sll-f is often recommanded.
I took that into account, but it has only 2 6Gbps SATA port. Due to existing 4 SATA HDD drives thats a bit less.

What kind of other Mainboard would fit my needs here in a range up to 120€ (used and availible included)

Thanks

X10sdv is a good choice, but is not “low budget”

Gigabyte MJ11-EC1, if 1 GbE is enough.
Less quirky, but larger (micro-ATX) and more expensive (CPU not included), a MC12-LE0 would also fit the requirements, preferably with a PRO APU for lower idle power.

If is available, my backup nas mainboard should be good for you, the Asus P10S-I, i found mine really for a cheap price (like 20€); put on it a Xeon V5 L (low tdp without vga) and you will be fine. The only bad thing is you should buy an sff cable for use the 4 sata ports (10€), and the UDIMM ecc are not cheap

That sounds great, but P10 series seems to be rearly availible and than not for such a great price.

Yep i see some price, totally unbelivable. The better offer i see Is this one on eBay, but from Japan :upside_down_face: at least they sell CPU and RAM together (but Is not specified if are ecc or not).

I’m realizing i have had a lot of luck

The already suggested Gigabyte MJ11-EC1 seems the better option if you buy from Europe i think… Mini itx and ecc are a pain

Mini itx is not a requirement. So what about a Supermicro X11SSL-F ?

Fine, if you can find it for a good price.
But then have a look at the MC12-LE0 as well.

I’ve read a lot of good things about these old DATTO motherboards that got recycled and are all over eBay. Xeon D with 6 onboard SATA is fantastic from a performance per watt perspective.

Type NAS Motherboard on ALIEXPRESS - Look for the boards with CPU’s starting with N - Like N100 or N5095 - These are all pretty low powered.
There’s hundreds

I don’t know what you want to do with this NAS, but if it is to be mainly as a file server plus maybe a few docker containers, I think a board with an n100 processor will be enough, if not enough then n350. Supposedly they give 16gb of ram, but you can put in 32gb.
here
n100 6w
n350 7w

Java-based IPMI, and no bifurcation in the PCIe slot, so a Supermicro X10SDV is the better choice if one can find one. But these rebranded MB10 have the benefit of availability.

With ECC?
