Will TrueNAS RC update to a new major release?

Hello,

I am new to TrueNAS and tried to install 24.10 which did not work. So I tried 25.04-RC.1 successfully. On 15 April 2025 the new release 25.04 will be published. Can I set up my system with 25.04-RC.1 and later update to 25.04, or should I wait until 15 April for the new release 25.04 and start from the scratch?

Yes, you’ll get a notification on the dashboard. Simply click apply pending update, save your config and secret and you’re basically done. It’ll download the update, apply it and restart the machine when it’s done

You additionally may want to explore why 24.10.2 failed, as something is likely to break on you in the future unless you understand the issue.
