Just checking in after reading the Docs looking for a 25.04.2 release date, I couldn’t find it anywhere?
Is that what we are waiting for before upgrading our VM’s? or is it Goldeneye?

I’m not sure what you mean by this. Instances (formerly called VMs) are currently designated “experimental” in 25.04 (Fangtooth). In my opinion, they’re not ready for prime time because: (1) you can’t take snapshots of an instance through the UI, and (2) you can’t see what network interfaces have been assigned to an instance once the assignment has taken place. So, waiting to upgrade seems prudent. I’m still on 24.10.2 (Electric Eel) for my main servers, although I’ve installed 25.04 on a test computer just to try it out.
There was a Truenas tech talk podcast that came out yesterday (episode 29) in which the IxSystems representatives hosting it said that they’re hoping to address the snapshot issue by 25.10 (Goldeye). I doubt it will be addressed before then, and there is an outside chance that it could take longer, but my guess is 25.10, likely due out in October.
I also saw in a separate thread on this forum that IxSystems is hoping to address the network interface issue in 25.10. So, it will probably be when 25.10 comes out, likely in October, that instance VMs will become usable. Until then, I’m staying with Electric Eel. YMMV.
One other thing. On the tech talk podcast that came out yesterday, the hosts said that there are internal discussions at IxSystems about whether some instance-related features can be rolled out before Goldeye, like in 25.04.2. So there’s an outside chance that things could change. I don’t know the release date for 25.04.2, but based on how things have worked in the past, I’d guess late summer, like July or August.
Thanks, I agree with everything your saying, but had no real idea of how long the wait will be. Electric Eel is where inn shopping too until VM’s are once again ready for primetime.
