Hello, I am new here and want to share my Expiriences to Build my Own TrueNAS System with the use off Shuttle SW580R8 Barebone and the QNAP TL-D800S 8 Bay Enclousure.
Shuttle SW580R8 Hardware used:
64GB Kingston FURY Beast DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit
(Max 128GB Possible)
Intel Core i5 11600K 6x 3.90GHz So.1200
Noctua NH-U9S CPU-Cooler (Enclousure Mod needed!!!)
Mellanox ConnectX-4 Dual Port 25GB Card (Refurbished)
Qnap SAS Controller
3 250GB Samsung SSD 980 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 3D-NAND TLC

Also used this and it works!!!

4x 1TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD (2x Mirror as Cache read pool)
QNAP TL-D800S Hardware:
8x 6TB Seagate Iron Wulf Drives
To fit all into the SW580R8 some Enclousure Mods was needed, special for the Noctua Cooler. Will not fit into it without Mod!
Enclousure Mod:
On the PSU Side you need to remoove the Aluminium Metall Piece under the PSU.
4 Holes needed under the CPU (may be it would work also without them but it is realy tight) between Board and Case
Also Removed a bit Metall on the Back side for the Ventilation:
Still to do:
How to screw the 4 SATA SSD on Top.
Hoe to screw the Boot M.2 NVME to Enclousure
The actual TrueNAS Scale Stable Version i can nstall but it cant boot
I get the Massage the RAM Drive created and nothing happen after that it freezes
TrueNAS Core works fine so far on the M.2 NVME with 2230 E to 2280 Adapter and TruNAS Core show me all 3 NVME Drives after boot!
Nice weekend guys
