Browsing through YouTube this morning found me some mentions of the JetKVM, a new (currently on Kickstarter[1], expecting to ship in December) Ethernet HDMI KVM device that’s currently listing at US$69.
Compared to the NanoKVM I’d mentioned earlier, the JetKVM is a little more expensive, looks a little more polished, seems to have a similar feature set, and uses ARM rather than RISC-V for the NanoKVM. JetKVM seems to have an option for cloud control, which I don’t recall NanoKVM having–I don’t think I’d want that, but I expect others would. Ordering the NanoKVM in .us took some doing, and they took about two months to ship my order, but it’s looking like it’d be at least 6 weeks for the JetKVM too.
I’m glad to see some competition in this space–a remote display can be very convenient for a server, and the PiKVM devices are quite expensive (yes, less expensive if you roll your own, but still a good bit more expensive than either of these). Power control on any of these units (including the PiKVM) is a little sketchy; that’s a point in favor of an integrated BMC like IPMI or iDRAC. But KVM plus storage is a pretty big win in any event.
JetKVM has said they’ll release their software under some version of the GPL by the time devices ship in December.
I’m not affiliated with any of these, but thought they might be interesting.

And no, I’m not a fan of established companies using Kickstarter to market products that are already in full production, but I’m afraid that ship has sailed ↩︎
