I am running TrueNAS Scale 24.10 latest update. I don’t exactly remember when this issue started happening. I have tried digging into it here and there, but haven’t gotten anywhere, so I am making a post.
When I access an SMB share from my Windows 11 client, I type in the \hostname.domain.com\sharename and then hit enter. The system then waits about 15 seconds and then it finally loads.
I am trying to figure out what is happening that it takes this long. I have a few other shares mapped as drives and those load instantly when connecting. If I map this share as a drive, it will load instantly.
I did a wireshark capture and I can see the initial TCP connection, but then nothing for 15 seconds and then it starts the SMB connection process. The share and file permissions are controlled with a local and domain user account. I have the other drives mapped with the local user credentials and I believe it is using those credentials to access the share when I access it manually.
Any ideas what might be going on?
