Actual-budget update requires "-force" due to existing data found, but force is not an option (In GUI)

The eror is …“budget/config: path contains existing data and `force` was not specified“. Searching does not reveal if i can run the update from the command line so i can add -force etc.

You should be able to edit the application and select Force Flag in the storage configuration section. It’s described in:

does not come close to saying something/anything about “adds ‘-force’ to cli” etc. I trusted in your knowledge. I read your linked article and it sort of said what I think I need, so I went with it and put a check in Force Flag, updated the config, then attempted to update the application, and I am now on current version!
