After updating to 24.10 SMB share is empty

Hi All,

After updating from 24.04.2.5 to 24.10 my SMB share that i was using for Jellyfin is empty. All my movies and tv shows are deleted. Everything else on the same pool is there except Jellyfin share.
I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue and could help me out.

How did you verify the SMB share is empty? Did you check it using the command line on TrueNAS or a file browser, etc? Narrowing down if the files are on TrueNAS but not viewable by Jellyfin could help.

Do you think you were hit by this upgrade deadline issue?

id check the dataset itself b4 assuming the movies got wiped

-zfs list -r -o name,mountpoint,used | rg -i jelly
-ls the mountpoint from a shell on the nas
-midclt call sharing.smb.query | jq
-compare the smb path to the real dataset mountpoint

after 24.04→24.10 the apps move has left me with a share still pointed at an old empty hostpath while the media dataset was fine under /mnt/…

I’ve checked both via CLI and Windows Explorer.

I can’t embed images so below output of few CLI commands:

output of # midclt call sharing.smb.query | jq
I also were using qBittorrent which was using Downloads share. The Downloads folder is as it was before update, everything file is just there.

zfs list -r -o name,mountpoint,used | grep -i jelly
Previously i had it on pool1 but moved it to pool2 which was working okay.

yeah the share path is fine. JellyFinDataSet is actually empty (96k, only that .jellyfin-transcode file). smb is just showing whats on disk.

id try:
-zfs list -t snapshot -r pool2/share2/JellyFinDataSet
-zfs list -t snapshot -r pool1 | rg -i jelly
-du -sh /mnt/pool2/share2/Downloads/*
-zfs history pool2 | rg -i ‘destroy|jelly|JellyFin’ | tail -40

if a snap still has the media, clone it back onto a new dataset. Torrents is 634g so maybe the library lived under Downloads the whole time. also jellyfin is mounting //192.168.1.250/JellyFinSMBShare into itself over cifs, which just loops that empty share. point the app at a real host path that has the files.
