Another can't upload config file issue

Six months ago my home of 37 years burned. My big dog and I ended at a hotel and the next morning taking him for a walk he tripped on the stairs and and took me down. I wound up with a concussion, a detached retina, and a broken hip. 2025 was not kind

I’ve been working on saving two truenas servers, two Synology backup boxes, my workstation. My Linux box, and a guest workstation from the smoke and water.

All drives are being replaced, and I decided to change out the DOM on the serve for a mirrored pair of 2.5 SSD. Things went well, the spinners were replaced one at a time and they rebuilt. Then the Dom. The config file was saved without a problem and was removed. I downloaded the exact same version 13.0-u6.7, installed without a problem, restarted, set a static IP, but trying to upload the config results in a dialog saying the config file is newer than the installed os.

I read the os has to be the same version or newer so I downloaded 13.0-u6.8 but had the same result. With the possibility of a corrupt config file, I rebooted on 6.7 again with the previous DOM and saved the config again but had the same luck.

Any help is appreciated. What I’m working with is my laptop connected to the server through a switch

Do you need to stick with TrueNAS CORE instead of going to TrueNAS Scale? Only think I can think of is you had it booted to TrueNAS Scale while trying to recover in the past and that is causing issues.

Can you just set up everything manually again? Do you see your pools and everything? Screenshots could help us figure out your current state of the system. What do you need from the configuration? Did you just have a simple pool setup and SMB sharing or is there a lot more involved like VMs or Jails?

Just checking back a few days later to see if you had any progress?

Afaik the version is not included in the exported file but it’s in the original file name, if you kept that. I’ve never heard of truenas wrongfully refusing a config import before… really weird.
