Backblaze Personal Plan

Hello.

I plan to backup my TrueNAS with all data to backblaze. But i would like to go with personal plan. As i noticed, TrueNAS doesn’t support backup using personal plan - only the B2 one. Is there someone that have done the backup to personal plan? How did you achieve it?

Thank you.

Backblaze personal is designed for backups from a Windows machine (potentially also MacOS) via their client. It’s not supported on Linux, because the combination of linux support, low prices, and unlimited capacity would lead to a very full datacenter indeed…

B2 is pretty great! Decent speed and very cheap.

Take a look at TrueCloud Backup builtin to TrueNAS. It’s fully integrated and uses the cloud provider StorJ. I pay approx £4-5 a month to store 1TB and it works great.

B2 is also builtin to TrueNAS, way faster than Storj, free to download but 6$ instead of 4$ per TB.

Not quite the same way. The TrueNAS and StorJ Teams have no doubt spent a lot of time integrating this as the options you have for backup and recovery are much more full featured than the other cloud providers options.

Not in my experience.

Last time I checked, storj was just S3.
And because of that slower than B2 from Backblaze.

Also last time I checked, storj did not even support stuff like object lock or lifecycle rules, which seems pretty important for a backup solution.

Check out the integration in ElectricEel-24.10.2 I think you’ll like it.

Is it finally native?

But Storj isn’t for me either way, the storage backend of Storj is a broken mess (I was a node operator for years) and bad code quality.
They haven’t managed to grow but are burning through money.
The Vivaldi acquisition showed me, that they are not really interested in a real product, but vaporware hype. I doubt the will be there few years down the road (or however long the Ai hypetrain can burn money).
