I am new to TrueNas and built my server a month ago and I started with only 1 drive with the simple stripe raid with no redundancy.
I am adding 2 more drives for a total of 3 drives and was looking to change to raid Z1.
Is it possible for me to just change the raid after I add the 2 more drives? And if so how do I do it?
No, it isn’t. In the latest release it’s newly possible to expand, say, a three-disk RAIDZ1 to a four-disk RAIDZ1, but it isn’t possible to change a pool’s geometry.
What if I want to change Stripe to Mirror?
Yes, stripe to mirror (and 2-wide mirror to 3-wide mirror, etc.) is supported.
And do I just lick “extend” in the storage area? I just do not see an option to make it a mirror option, I only see it say extend and then I select what drive to extend.
That’s how you turn a single drive into a mirror.
