Connecting another server to truenas

Hey everyone i am new to all this tried looking it up but did not find anything
I have 2 servers one powerful and one just as a storage
Im on a low budget/ non existant and basically i have my workplace as item supplier
Ive had a netapp drive box that is not longer in use that uses 3.5 inch 8tb drives and i have an hp server with 8 slots for 3.5 inch drives
And i have a powerful server with xeons 2680 v4 i think and about 512 gb ram with 24 900gb drives.
My challenge is to connect the server with 8 slots for the 8tb drives to the truenas server which will be the powerful, both have 2 10gb sfp nics which i though connecting with a sfp copper 10gb cable.
Have the storage server connected to the truenas scale server and the truenas server connected to the network.
My question if its possible what do i run on the storage server and if not what could be done?
I have no access to adding a raid controller to control the netapps or something like this.

Thanks for the help to everyone in advance and have a good one

Post the hardware specifics.

SFP+, use fiber

Thanks for the reply.
I have Have hp 560sfp+ in the storage server
And an hpe 562sfp+
The main server that i want to run truenas is a supermicro with 2 2680 v4 and about 512 gb of ddr4 ram with a few sata and sas disks
And the storage is hp dl380 gen8 with one 2420v2 and 8 ram with 8 3.5 8tb drives
probably i could add more ram but this is the only server that i have with 3.5 inch slots
If i could’ve upgraded it to the higher ram capacity and cpu power i would just run true nas on this but im planning on running vms and dockers on the server so there is no point in giving a 2420v2 more than 32gb ram and i think its too much.

I dont need to connect the storage server to my network i just want to connect it to the true nas server and access the drives via 10gib cooper or fiber which one would be preferd i dont mind i have both so i could have decent transfer rate,

My question if its possibe to have truenas somehow access a different server with about 60tb of drives that is connected to it straightly from sfp to sfp
And if yes how and which os am i running on the storage server

No Truenas can’t mount storage from other servers.

Thanks for the clear reply.
Whats my options of doing it then? Just running another truenas on the storage server and having like 2 network “drives”? Or like just windows with file share?

I would upgrade the RAM in the hp dl380 gen8 and install TrueNAS. You can choose between Core or Scale versions depending on your needs. The more RAM you put in this server, the more RAM TrueNAS is able to use for its read cache, ARC.

Start with the ZFS Primer and get an idea for how you would set up the storage and what kind of redundancy you want when drives fail. You would share the pools on that machine by NFS or SMB on the network
