Connecting laptop to TrueNas share folder

I have a NAS running TrueNas Core (TrueNas-13-0-U6.3), and it has been running great for about 6 years. It is still running great, but I have a problem connecting a new laptop to a share folder on the NAS.

  1. The NAS is hard wired to a wireless ASUS router.
  2. I have a desktop computer hard wired to the router and it can access the share folder
  3. I have laptop 1 wirelessly connected to the router and it can also access the share folder.
  4. I just bought laptop 2 and have been trying to wirelessly connect to the share folder, with no success.
  5. Laptop 2 is a Lenovo ThinkPad P1 with an I9 processor, 64 GB RAM, a 1TB M.2 and is running Windows 11 Pro.
  6. I don’t remember how I got laptop 1 to access the share drive.

Question: What do I need to do, to connect laptop 2 to the share folder on the NAS?

Create user accounts with matching credentials on Laptop 2 and the NAS share folder.

Thank you for the reply.

Just to make sure I understand, the user name and password used to log onto Laptop 2 has to be the same as a user on the NAS?

Do I create the new user in TrueNas under “Accounts - Users” and give it the same password as in Laptop 2?

Yes, and give the user access to the share on the NAS
