Both can be used as keystring for native ZFS encryption. Both can be exported and saved. Both can be stored in a password vault.

Does it matter that one of them is the SHA256 hash of a JPEG whose significance is known only to you?

It costs you nothing extra, but if all else fails or the worst-case scenario happens with your backed up key, you can still retrieve your keystring.
