ok guys I am a truenas noob here. I had immich installed not through docker, and I accidentally deleted the app, I can see the folder in the truenas webui and it is the same file size as the contents of my immich library and looks like it is in the correct directory. I cannot see the individual files in the folder so I am not 100% sure that the photos are there or even on the system at all, but I am trying to get them back.
i have tried to reinstall immich through truenas and through docker and neither instance can see the files in that directory, I also tried to create an SMB share and that did not work. I was able to create a NFS of the folder and I can see it from my laptop, but my laptop does not seem to have the permissions to mount the folder and view the contents and I have no idea how to give it the correct permissions.
I do not know exactly what else I should add to the thread details wise of my situation. I am ready to provide any details that may be necessary to get the ball rolling on this topic, and I really need someone to work through this with me since I am so lost and I am scared to death that a decade of photos are just GONE.
Also I do not have any backups, This system was FRESH so I had not made it to that point yet when the app got deleted. I did take a snapshot after the app was deleted.
So if you can see the directory having the same size as your photos that is a good sign.
Did you have everything set up to use a host path during the app installation? If you did this should be relatively easy to fix. If not you might have to reupload all the photos.
Also I would use WinSCP to look at your directory and see if you can see the pictures. Don’t delete or move them! If you can, I would backup the pictures somewhere else as you try to fix this. Be aware the using winscp to copy large amounts of files or anything like that is incredibly slow and it will be quicker to use the shell if you feel comfortable.
Don’t panic, if the dataset is there, the data should be there too.
Try and create a SMB share of the dataset so that you can access the files and folders, and save them elsewhere. You can then reinstall the Immich app and possibly copy the photos again.
Sorry i took so long to reply, i have been away. i cant create an SMB share of the directory, something about me not having permission since the directory was created by the system and not by me. I can make a NFS share, but the problem there is that I dont have the permissions from my laptop to mount the share, and I dont know how to give myself the permission.
I know so little about this, I do not know if it was setup with a host path. the way that I installed it was by going into the app list in truenas and just clicking install. I am going to look into WinSCP.
When i connect with WinSCP over FTP I can only see 2 directories. “goroot” and “immich-go” even though I thought I set my FTP settings server side to display everything in my pool, I cannot see anything else.
