What is everyone using for remote gaming instead of steam headless which has been broken for like 1.5 years now for one reason or another and has not been updated for months now? I dont want to use a vm as passthrough of course does not allow docker apps to use the gpu. I tried a vm anyway just for testing and it was a huge pain that I could never keep working consistently, despite trying with mint, debian, bazzite and cachy.
haven’t tested it cause i had no reason to but i know on bazzite you can use sunshine (on the host) /moonlight (on the client) for game streaming and afaik there should be options to run those inside a docker container
Already tried bazzite and bazzite deck (same thing but boots into game mode) and neither would even successfully install sunshine so i gave up on them. I got cachy set up and working and playing just fine, but then a few days later for literally no reason it decided it doesnt want to boot properly and loads forever before even getting to the logon/lock screen so i again threw it away. Then I attempted debian and mint but they were both dependency hell trying to install sunshine trying to manually locate and install dependencies one by one so I said screw this and binned those both too. Its astounding how something so ridiculously simple is being made into such an infuriating sisyphean task. I almost just went to windows but that is such a resource hog it isnt worth it either.
So in light of this I would much rather just run a curated, self contained, purpose built docker app where everything is already prebuilt and set up to just work once configured. I just dont have the patience and time to make setting up a gaming application my full time job when I only play like 4-10 hours a week, if I even play at all.
